Reminiscences Of Military Service with the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders.
First edition of an uncommon memoir. Munro served as surgeon-general with the Sutherland Highlanders through both the Crimean War and Indian Mutiny. At Balaclava he witnessed the 93rd’s famous stand in the face of oncoming Russian cavalry, the Thin Red Line, and gives a brief description in Chapter III.
Octavo. Original dark red cloth, title gilt to the spine, regimental badge gilt to the front board, black surface-paper endpapers renewed. Contemporary ownership insription of “J. Macfadyen” on half-title.Binding skilfully refurbished, scattered foxing to prelims and end matter. A very good copy.
