Early printing of this essential jazz visual reference, from the estate of jazz discographer and collector, Rudolph Dorn, with his book stamp to the front free endpaper. Signed, and occasionally inscribed, to Dorn at their respective photographs by twenty-six jazz luminaries; trumpeters, Chet Baker, Roy Eldridge, Joe Newman, Wild Bill Davison, Yank Lawson and Billy Butterfield; drummer Art Blakey, saxophonists, Johnny Hodges (who has not stinted in signing three times), Benny Carter, Al Cohn, Bud Freeman and Eddie Miller; by clarinetist, Peanuts Hucko, vibraphonist Red Norvo, and vocalist Mildred Bailey; orchestra leader and pianist Count Basie, pianists Oscar Peterson, Dick Wellstood and Art Hodes (twice signed); and bassist, Ray Brown, trombonists Lawrence Brown and Kai Winding, guitarists Tal Farlow, Al Casey, Barney Kessel and Eddie Durham. Discographers are inveterate annotators and there are a few scattered notations in Dorn’s hand throughout. An extraordinary collection of jazz signatures, which includes the highly prized autograph of Chet Baker

Quarto. Original grey cloth. Profusely illustrated from photographs. Spine sunned, overall slightly rubbed, minor wear to spine ends and corners, light toning to the text block. A very good copy.
