First edition, first printing. A nice association copy, inscribed and triple-signed by the noted film producer Robert Evans, co-producer Dick Sylbert, and director John Frankenheimer on the front free endpaper (“To Linda — Robert Evans, Dick Sylbert, John Frankenheimer.”). It was presented to Linda Stevens, a reporter and critic for the New York Post, and is accompanied by a typed letter addressed to Steven from Evans on his Paramount stationary, praising the book and writing that the trio had committed to adapting the book into a film. He palpably writes hoping for a favourable review of the book from Stevens, noting that “Charles Michener of Newsweek shares our enthusiasm.” However, another producer and director was found for the adaptation, and the result was the 1987 film Angel Hart, written and directed by Alan Parker, and starring Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro and Lisa Bonet.
