The Arm of the Starfish.
First edition, first printing. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, “For Miss Le G, with love, Madeleine.” Miss Le G is the nickname of the actress Eva Le Gallienne (1899-1991), who had worked with L’Engle at an earlier stage in her career, when she too worked as an actress. Gallienne founded the Civic Repertory Theatre in Manhattan in the 1920s, where she appeared to great acclaim as Peter Pan and Hedda Gabler.
