First edition, first impression, first issue with bevelled bards and finer grain cloth. Inscribed by the author on the half title, “Wyndham Lewis Dec. 29 26”. This book represents Lewis’s major essay on Shakespeare.

Quarto. Original blue cloth, titles to upper board and spine gilt, top edge gilt. Cloth just a little rubbed at extremities, spine faintly toned, spine cracked between front free endpaper and half title, title pages and edges of text block spotted. A very good copy in the spotted and rubbed jacket with chips, including a chip slightly affecting the title, and red tinted dampstain to the edges.
