First US edition, first printing. Inscribed by the author “for George and Jean Reeves by Lawrence Durrell” on the title page. Originally printed in the United Kingdom earlier the same year, Tunc was the first instalment in Durrell’s two-part comic novel The Revolt of Aphrodite, which he completed with Nunquam, published in 1970. Tunc marked Durrell’s return to the novel after a period of writing verse dramas, following his completion of the Alexandria Quarter in 1960.
