First Edition of the church publication beginning the long process of canonization of St. Joseph Oriol (1650–1702), the “Thaumaturgus of Barcelona”, priest of the church of Nuestra Señora del Pino in that city. Impelled by a desire of martyrdom, he went to Rome in 1698 to offer himself for the foreign missions, but fell sick at Marseilles and returned to Barcelona, where he became renowned for his miraculous powers of healing. He was beatified by Pius VII in 1806 and canonized by Pius X in 1909. His feast occurs on 23 March.

Folio (320 212 mm), pp. [ii], 4, 8, 24, 108, 3. Lately rebound using 18th-century marbled paper over pasteboards, new endpapers, old gilt edges and leather fore-edge tags. Light waterstain in lower margin, heavier towards end, a good copy.
