First edition, first impression. “The poet’s own unfinished prose work on the Arthurian Legend is used as the introduction to a detailed commentary on the poems by C. S. Lewis, with whom Williams had fully discussed them in the last years of his life, and a claim is advanced for their profound technical and spiritual importance” (jacket front flap).

Octavo. Original red cloth, gilt-lettered spine, top edge red. With the dust jacket. Spine rolled and sunned, strip of tanning to gutter of half-title. An excellent copy in the slightly marked dust jacket with a mild abrasion to front panel costing half of two letters and discreet tape-repair to spine and joints on verso.
