First edition, early issue with the Shoulder of Shasta advertisement leaf. With a loosely inserted slip inscribed by the author, “with affectionate regards of Bram Stoker, 15-11-90″ which has been mounted on another slip of paper on which is written in a separate hand, “from presentation copy of his book ‘The Snake’s Pass’. Bram Stoker, Mr, Henry Irving’s manager”. The Snake’s Pass was Stoker’s first novel, published in 1890. With the elaborate 1920s bookplate of designer and art collector Pickford Waller (1849–1930) to the front pastedown, and the bookplate of noted collectors Florence and Edward Kaye to the chemise.

Octavo. Original yellow cloth, titles to spine and boards in red. Housed in a brown quarter morocco slipcase and chemise. Spine toned, cloth a little dulled and with some bubbles to the lower board, but overall fresh, hinges professionally restored. An excellent copy.
