The Black Book.
First edition, first impression. Inscribed by the author on the half-title, “To Peter from Larry. Paris, 1938”. Durrell also reinscribed the half-title in a bolder hand at a later date, “Inscribed for Peter Bull by his old friend Larry Durrell, April 1973”. Bull was a British character actor perhaps best known for his role as the Russian ambassador in Dr. Strangelove. Bull has added his ownership inscription to the half-title in pencil. Presentation copies of the first edition of The Black Book are of the utmost scarcity. We have encountered only one other copy on the market.
