First US edition in English, first printing, originally published in German in 1925 as Der Process; uncommon in the dust jacket, designed by the German-born American artist George Salter, whose book jacket highpoints include Alfred Döblin’s Berlin Alexanderplatz (1929) and Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged (1957). The translation is by Edwin and Willa Muir and was first published by Gollancz in 1937.
