First edition of this history of the Addiscombe Military Seminary by a colonel in the Royal (Late Madras) Engineers. The seminary existed between 1809 and 1861 and was established by the British East India Company; but after the Indian Mutiny of 1857 the British Government took over control of British India and amalgamated the forces of the company with the Presidency armies.

Large square octavo. Original red cloth neatly repaired, gilt lettered spine. Colour frontispiece, 50 illustrations in the text, 3 folding maps of the buildings and grounds. Spine and back cover darkened. A very good, sound copy.
