Third edition. Copac locates only two copies (Oxford, Trinity College Dublin) in British and Irish institutional libraries that match this collation of 304 pages; OCLC adds no further copies, although copies calling for 488 pp. are more common institutionally. Abbey calls for a plate of St Helena not present here but as demand for copies would have been great, copies may well have been issued ad hoc with varying numbers of plates.

Octavo (214 x 130 mm). Later half calf, gilt tooled on the raised bands, green morocco label, brown cloth sides, marbled edges and endpapers. Wood-engraved pictorial border to title page, 3 engraved portraits (Napoleon, Wellington, Blucher), 5 handcoloured aquatint plates by Crabb after Brighty (La Belle Alliance, church and village of Waterloo, capture of Napoleon’s carriage, Napoleon viewing the arrival of the Prussians, Wellington & Blucher), handcoloured folding map of the Netherlands, handcoloured folding map of dispositions between Brussels and Charleroi, folding plain map of dispositions at Waterloo. A touch of foxing in places otherwise a very good copy.

Bibliography: Abbey, Life, 377 (lists the third edition with 488 pp.) Sandler 2704 listing the second edition).
