[O'BRIAN, Patrick.] Patrick Richard Russ.
First edition, first impression. One of the earliest works of the youthful Patrick Russ (later to change his name to Patrick O’Brian), a picaresque novel set in India at the height of the British Raj, evoking an “Arabian Nights-like atmosphere” (front flap). Favourable contemporary reviews marked Russ out as a promising writer.
