First and limited edition, number 1,754 of 2,000 copies signed by the illustrator, Paul Hogarth, and the typographer, Freeman Keith. An attractively produced book, printed at the distinguished Stinehour Press; Paul Hogarth comments that his illustrations, wonderful views of Mallorca, are not only a “visual accompaniment” to the poetry but also “a celebration of the walks that provided much of his [Graves’s] inspiration”.
Large octavo. Original gilt-lettered brown cloth spine, patterned paper boards, top edges gilt, pale brown endpapers. With the original slipcase. Title page printed in dark red and black, 8 double-page plates from watercolours by Paul Hogarth. Spine lightly sunned. An excellent copy, with the glassine dust jacket (a little toned and torn, folded and loosely inserted) and the publisher’s flyer.
