The Region Cloud.
First edition, first impression, of Lubbock’s only published novel, which has been read as “a dubious homage to Henry James, as it presents the figure of a great artist whose throng of young admirers makes him feel powerful. While its rambling narrative may have alienated some readers, its series of fleeting impressions that combine to signal a life-changing experience confer on The Region Cloud the stamp of the modern” (ODNB).
