No. 30 of the limited issue of 60 copies on Lafuma. First edition of one of the earliest serious works on jazz. Panassié was the founder of the Hot Club de Paris, and for many years the most authoritative European voice on jazz. A genuinely important book and difficult to find in anything like collectable condition.

Octavo. Contemporary quarter sheep on yellow paper-covered boards, title gilt to the spine, the original wraps with upper panel design by Chastel bound in at the rear. Coloured frontispiece after Chastel and 8 half-tone plates. Spine slightly sunned and a little rubbed, boards spotted, light toning, some scattered foxing, overall a very good copy.
