First edition of one of the earliest serious works on jazz. Panassié was the founder of the Hot Club de Paris, and for many years the most authoritative European voice on jazz. A genuinely important book and difficult to find in anything like collectable condition.

Octavo. Original wraps with upper panel design by Chastel. Coloured frontispiece after Chastel and 8 half-tone plates. Wraps a touch spotted, light toning, marginal browning, but a very nice copy.
