Isabella Beeton’s husband was a prominent publisher and the first to produce a women’s magazine, the English Woman’s Domestic Magazine, for which Isabella wrote. He was also the publisher of Uncle Tom’s Cabin and the Boy’s Own magazine.

Octavo (210 136 mm). Bound in near-contemporary black half morocco, titles to spine gilt, black cloth sides, marbled edges and endpapers. Colour frontispiece and 31 similar plates, 111 black and white plates, 18 pages of two-tone advertisements. Tips a little worn, edges rubbed, faint foxing to edges; an excellent copy, attractively bound.
