ADAMS, Ansel, & Nancy Newhall.
The Eloquent Light: His Photographs and the Classic Biography.
With: The Eloquent Light Exhibition Catalogue.
Second edition, first printing. Signed by the author on the half-title. The book was first published 1963 under the title Ansel Adams: Volume I, The Eloquent Light, and was the first in a projected series. This revised edition has a new foreword by Newhall’s husband, after Nancy was killed in tragic accident in 1974. She had continued to collaborate with Ansel in the intervening years, producing Fiat Lux (1967) and The Tetons and the Yellowstone (1970) with him, and was still working on the “Anselography”, as she affectionately termed the series, at the time of her death. The exhibition covered Adams’s output between 1923 and 1963, and was staged at the de Young Memorial Museum and circulated by the Smithsonian.
