A Treatise On Money.
In Two Volumes.
First edition, first impression. From the library of the distinguished Japanese Marxist economist Samezo Kuruma (1893-1982), with his ownership inscription on each titlepage, marginal annotations (in Japanese and English) and a couple of inserted slips with notes (largely in volume I). His major contribution to economics is the massive Marx-Lexikon zur Politischen Ökonomie (1968-76). A Treatise on Money is the first of Keynes’s two major contributions to economic theory and his most comprehensive work on monetary theory. It anticipates many of the ideas of the General Theory, which it immediately preceded and by which it has been, perhaps unfairly, overshadowed.
2 volumes, octavo. Original dark slate green cloth, gilt lettered spine. Tables and diagrams throughout. Dark splash marks to front cover of volume I, slight discolouration at foot of covers of volume II (also with short closed-tear at head of spine), scattered foxing but overall a very good, clean copy.
