First UK edition, first printing in English. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, ” To Margaret D. Waterhouse, in very old friendship and affection from Elias Canetti.” A study on the nature of crowd psychology and its role throughout history. Canetti won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1981.

Octavo. Original blue cloth boards, titles to spine gilt. With the dust jacket. Mild fading to cloth along edges, bumping to spine ends, in the dust jacket with toning and mild soiling to spine and rear panel, wear to extremities, short closed tears along upper edges. A very good copy.
