Myrdal (1898–1987) was a Swedish professor of economics, an early supporter of Keynes, and one of the founders of the science of econometrics. He was particularly interested in the relationship between economic policies and social reform, and won the Nobel Prize in 1974 for his analysis of “the interdependence of economic, social and institutional phenomena”.
