The Present Position of Economics. An Inaugural Lecture given in the Senate House at Cambridge. 24 February 1885.
First edition of Marshall’s inaugural lecture following his election to the professorship at Cambridge in 1885 in succession to Professor Fawcett. It was reprinted in Pigou’s Memorials of Alfred Marshall in 1925 (pp. 152–174). J. K. Whitaker, writing in The New Palgrave, lists this as one of the most important of Marshall’s occasional papers.
