First edition. This copy inscribed on the front free endpaper; "To Dennis Wheatley with warmest regards, from E. Moore Ritchie," and with Wheatley's bookplate to the front pastedown. An old South Africa hand, Moore Ritchie was Special Correspondent with the South Africa Armies during the First World War, publishing his account With Botha in the Field in 1915, here he argues the importance of Africa's ex-African colonies in her present geopolitical ambitions. After his death Wheatley's library was purchased by Blackwell's of Oxford who issued a catalogue of it in 1979. This book was item 1824, offered at £ 8.
Octavo. Original pinkish cloth lettered in black on the spine. With the dust jacket. Portrait frontispiece and 2 other plates, 8 maps, 5 on separate leaves, 3 full-page to the text. Very good in slightly rubbed and soiled jacket, chipped head and tail of the spine, old paper tape repairs.
