This very handsome plate depicts Anson's raid on the town of Paita. His capture of the Spanish vessel Nuestra Senhora del Carmin, led to intelligence which convinced Anson that he could capture the town and then demand ransom from its governor. When the governor refused to cooperate, Anson burned the town. Engraved by Muller.
