The Definitive Edition, the most complete of all the collected editions of Twain's works. One of a limited edition of 1,024 numbered sets, with the front blank signed by the author as "Samuel Clemens/Mark Twain" and with the limitation leaf signed by Twain's biographer Albert Bigelow Paine.
37 volumes, octavo (222 × 145 mm). Contemporary red half morocco, spines gilt in compartments, red cloth sides, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt. Portrait frontispiece by W. H. Bicknell to volume I, plates by P. Newell throughout. Contents faintly toned. An excellent set.
