First edition thus, first impression, originally published in a different form by Faber & Faber in 1936. Nash, designer of the dust jacket, earned fame as an enlisted artist during WWI, and after returning home he became a leader in the British avant-garde and modernist movements. Nash and the author were founding members of Unit One, a group that promoted all types of modern art.

Quarto. Original red cloth, titles to spine and roundel to cover gilt, yellow endpapers. With the dust jacket. Black and white images throughout. Faint spotting to endpapers. An excellent copy in the lightly rubbed dust jacket rather faded at the spine and with a couple of tiny chips n the spine panel.
