First edition, presentation copy from the artist to the publisher Thomas Fisher Unwin, with the gift inscription in Pennell's distinctive autograph: "Mr Thomas Fisher Unwin his book which Jo Pennell gave him, November 92"; and with the recipient's bookplate. Unwin seems to have been a great admirer of Pennell's work, on his death leaving his collection of books by Pennell to the Reform Club.
Octavo. Original maroon cloth, panel blocking in blind to boards, front board decorated and letterd in gilt, spine lettered in gilt, 39 engraved illustrations including frontispiece. 6pp publisher's catalogue at end. Bookplate of Thomas Fisher Unwin. Some very minor shelf wear, head and tail of spine slightly bumped, mark at tail of spine from removal of label, very minor foxing to initial pages and some light browning in margins.
