First edition, first impression of a pamphlet opposing the destruction of historic London buildings. Robert Byron (1905-1941), the journalist, art critic, and author is best known for his travel writing, particularly The Road to Oxiana. This pamphlet discusses the British attitude to architectural preservation, focusing on 10 sites that had been torn down or were threatened with destruction in 1937, including Carlton House Terrace, All Hallows Church, Waterloo Bridge, the Adelphi, Sir Joseph Banks's house, and Sir Joshua Reynold's house, most illustrated by photographs.
