First edition. Approximate date of publication taken from the title page, dated "183" and the signature of H. M. Bunbury on the initial blanks dated 1837.
Quarto (270 × 210mm). Contemporary straight-grain calf, boards ruled in blind and gilt, spine decoratively gilt in compartments, marbled edges and endpapers. 120 engraved plates, annotations to each plate along top edge, with index of annotations handwritten at end, bookplate of Henry Mill Bunbury, also signed by Ellen Bunbury, to front pastedown, initial blank signed by H. M. Bunbury. Some wear at corners and head of spine, rubbing to spine, a few damp stains to front boards, rear board slightly discoloured, some browning to initial and end pages, otherwise text block very clean, a very good copy.
