First Edition. This collection of Hulme's philosophical and cultural writings was published posthumously, its author having been killed during the First World War. It is nonetheless regarded as his major work, influencing writers and artists for a generation. His friends and occasionally combatants included Ezra Pound, T. S. Eliot, Wyndham Lewis, Augustus John and Jacob Epstein. The first edition is very scarce.
Octavo. Finely bound by The Chelsea Bindery in full grey morocco, titles and box design to spine gilt, rule to boards gilt, inner dentelles gilt, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. Includes 14 adverts. Frontispiece portrait of Hulme. A fine copy.
