First edition, first printing. Inscribed by Nicholson in crayon on the front pastedown, "for New Year 1938 from William Nicholson". This copy from the library of collector, who has tipped in a leaf of onion paper before the dedication leaf on which he has written in crayon, "This copy inscribed by The Bloke hisself, SS 1958".
Octavo. Original green and white pictorial boards. 29 illustrations printed in red, black, and green. Small bookplate to rear pastedown. Lightly rubbed, lower joint starting, light spotting to free endpapers. An excellent copy.
