First editions. Each volume has an epigram, Henry Ford being a particular favourite with Herr Melliand, but most germane is the one that he contributes himself; "A Textile Business without Science is a Loom without Power." Established in 1929 under the present title and continuing in various guises to the present day, where it is available on-line as Melliand International, the authoritative source for all "the latest scientific-technical information for all branches of the textile industry." The first number here is described as a "Specimen" and does appear to be some form of trial, or proof copy. Most volumes have the ink stamps of John Campbell & Co., of Hudson Street, NY, who were agents for The Amalgamated Dyestuffs & Chemical Works, Inc of Newark, manufacturers of sulfur and azo dyes and textile processing chemicals. A good early part-run of this fascinating textile trade periodical.

6 volumes, quarto, original blue cloth, title gilt to spines and upper boards. Profusely illustrated, some colour plates, textile samples mounted in the text. A little rubbed, some wear to the extremities, but overall very good.
