First edition. Inscribed by the author on the title page, "For Edward A Merry Christmas from Dennis 1953". Edward Lydell, whose bookplate appears at the front of this volume, knew Wheatley through diplomatic circles.
Octavo. original black boards with (fading) gilt lettering to spine. With dust jacket. Dust jacket and end papers lightly foxed, edges and spine slightly rubbed and worn, back panel panel rubbed, but in general a very good copy.
