Inscribed on the front pastedown, "For Mr Aneurin Bevan respectfully yours Henri Cartier-Bresson", and additionally inscribed by Jean-Jacques Servan-Schreiber—"and the friendly regards of L'Express JJSS". The photographs include images of the Welsh Labour politician Aneurin (Nye) Bevan and his wife Jennie Lee; the French politician Pierre Mendes France; the French journalist, politician and co-founder of L'Express, Jean-Jacques Servan-Schreiber; and the journalist, Italian socialist politician and editor of the Italian Socialist Party paper Avanti! Pietro Sandro Nenni. The book is the pictorial record of various meetings between the former minister Nye Bevan and his European socialist associates. Bresson had travelled with the party on behalf of L'Express for whom this album was prepared for presentation to its subject. One of these images is held by the National Portrait Gallery; several others are at the Getty.

Oblong quarto. Original grey cloth with a photograph to the front cover of a leopard holding a copy of L'Express newspaper in its mouth. With 20 monochrome photographs tipped in. All stamped on the verso with a Magnum copyright stamp and Henri-Cartier-Bresson-Magnum-Photos stamp, some with a stamped reference number, others by hand. A few images faded, that on the front board defective at the corners, but in excellent condition overall.
