First edition, first printing. From the library of sculptress Gertrude Hermes, with the ownership inscription of her artist husband Blair Hughes-Stanton. Author Henry J. Taylor was a foreign correspondent during the Second World War, a syndicated commentator and radio broadcaster, and later the US ambassador to Switzerland. This volume collects his stories from the early years of the war.
Octavo. Original light grey cloth, titles to spine in dark blue. Spine rolled and tanned, edges of boards a little rubbed and darkened. A very good copy.
