Signed Limited Edition. Special Copy. Number 9 of a special deluxe edition of ten copies containing an original watercolour by Rackham. One of the charming aspects of the watercolour in this book is that it provides an excellent example of Rackham's famous images, trees with human attributes, "the motif for which Rackham is best known". (James Hamilton, Arthur Rackham, A Life with Illustration)

Quarto. Bound for the publishers by Sangorski & Sutcliffe in full green morocco, with raised bands and vignettes of Rackhamesque goblins in gilt. The watercolour depicts Peer Gynt walking through the wood, being watched by some sinister looking trees. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Housed in a clamshell box. Twelve mounted colour plates, all in perfect condition, and line drawings in the text. A fine copy with just a hint of fading to the spine.
