First UK edition, first impression. Inscribed by the artist "Les [Photoportraits], a Lincoln, a Fidelma, avec ma vieille amitié, Henri". Lincoln Kirstein is most noted for his hand in founding the New York City Ballet and was married to Fidelma Cadmus. Although he and his wife enjoyed an amicable relationship, Kirstein also continued to pursue affairs with men. Kirstein's photograph appears on page 164.
