A New Edition.
A new edition, originally published in 1866. This copy, from the library of Ottoline Morrell, was given to her as a gift by future Prime Minister Herbert Henry Asquith, with whom she was having an affair. Asquith's gift inscription on the half-title reads "O. 1901", and Morrell has written in pencil on the same page "From H. H. A.".
Octavo. Original green cloth, titles to spine and ruling to boards gilt, black coated endpapers. A few small marks to boards, upper board creased, front hinge cracked, margins of contents a little toned. A very good copy.
