Superb 1930s, signed head and shoulders photographic portrait
Wonderful portrait image of the young Duke in top hat and white tie, signed "Best Wishes, Duke Ellington" across the shirt-front. Superbly evocative inked annotation verso by Bob Inman, a teen-age jazz fanatic; "Autographed by Duke Ellington at the Saturday Night Swing Session held at 485 Madison Avenue, NYC. From 7:00 - 7:30 over WABC on Sat. March 13, 1937, Ellington and his band along with Caspar Reardon (swing harpist) were guests on this week's broadcast. They have been on a long road trip and are opening at the Cotton Club, Broadway, this coming Wednesday replacing Cab Calloway."
