The Campaign of Chancellorsville. A Strategic and Tactical Study.
First edition, limited to 1000 copies, this number 451. Ownership inscription of J.F.C. Fuller to the front free endpaper, and a quantity of pencilled marginalia. Fuller contributed two acclaimed studies to the history of the American Civil War, Grant and Lee, and The Generalship of Ulysses S. Grant. Uncommon book, attractive provenance.
Quarto. Original plum combed cloth, title gilt in panel to the spine. 26 folding coloured maps and plans, 9 of them in an end-pocket, 15 full-page coloured maps, 3 coloured sketches and 4 plans. Ex-Prince Consort's Library, their bookplate and cancellation stamp to the front pastedown, stamp verso of the title, cloth a little rubbed and with two small labels removed from the spine, contents a little toned in the margins, but a very good copy.
