The Royal Quarto signed limited edition, one of 250 copies signed by the editor, R. B. Marston, with the plates on india paper (500 copies were also done in smaller, demy quarto format). The edition is particularly notable for its photogravures by the renowned photographer of the Broads, Peter Henry Emerson.
2 volumes, royal quarto (325 × 255 mm). Publisher's deluxe binding of green crushed morocco, spines with raised bands, lettered in gilt in three compartments, covers with intertwined monograms of the original authors in gilt, gilt inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, green cloth inner hinges, top edges gilt, others uncut, green silk markers. 2 portraits and 52 photogravure plates by P. H. Emerson and George Bankhart, captioned tissue guards, 3 maps and numerous wood-engraved vignettes on india paper and mounted; titles printed in red and black. Bookplate of Kathleen Mary Farquhar on front pastedowns, her contemporary gift inscription to Walter Farquhar on front free endpaper in vol. I. Extremities rubbed in places, some light spotting, mostly to endleaves, an excellent copy of the deluxe edition.
