The Lord of the Sea.
Re-issue of a book first published in 1901. This printing part of an abortive attempt at a complete works. With the author's signed presentation inscription to John Gawsworth {real name Flytton Armstrong) on the title page, "F.A. / M.P. Shiel". This is absolutely typical of presentations between these two friends and cohorts in the Realm of Redonda - a much vaunted bohemian collective which in the hard light of day seems little more than an association of like-minded pub crawlers!
Octavo. Original black cloth, titles to spine in green. With a literary agency's review slip pasted to the front free endpaper. Spine a little cocked, boards somewhat rubbed and marked, joints starting. Best to say about this one is that it is complete and intact with no unbearable faults.
