First US edition, first printing, clothbound issue. With the author's signed presentation inscription to the title page, "for Dan Pope from Sam Beckett" and signed beneath by Barney Rosset (b. 1922), the owner of the Grove Press. Pope is a published author and sometime dealer in rare books. This copy was originally owned by Max Gissen (1909-1984), the chief book reviewer for Time Magazine, with details of publication in pencil on the front free endpaper and some sporadic pencil marginal scoring throughout. Very uncommon inscribed.
Octavo. Original grey cloth, titles to spine gilt. With the dust jacket. Very minor rubbing at the bottom tips of the spine but an excellent copy in the nicked and very lightly marked dust jacket with a 2 inch split to one fold.
