Churchill's own copy of the Festschrift for his eightieth, with contributions from Clement Atlee, Sir John Rothenstein, the Aga Khan, Bernard Baruch and Anthony Eden, amongst others. Calligraphic inscription to a front free endpaper; "Seven copies of this book have been printed on hand-made paper none is for sale. This copy is presented to Sir Winston Spencer-Churchill, K.G., P.C., O.M.,, C.H., M.P., with the homage and affection of the publishers, the editor, & the contributors on the occasion of his eightieth birthday." Woods notes this private edition, but states that the 7 copies were bound in "quarter red morocco with decorated boards … supplied with slip-case patterned as boards." This copy evidently uniquely bound.

Octavo ( 228 × 144 mm) Full red morocco extra gilt by Sangorski and Sutcliffe for the publishers, title gilt to spine, raised bands, spine gilt in compartments, gilt panelling to the boards with ornate corner-pieces of foliate scrolls, floral tools and pointillé work, the upper board has a central roundel of foliate tools enclosing Churchill's initials, double fillet edge-rules, top edge gilt the others uncut, French fillet gilt to the turn-ins. Mounted portrait frontispiece within gilt ruled border. Spine the slightest touch sunned, minuscule contact shelf-wear to the bottom edge, light tan-burn browning to the free endpapers, discreet ink-stamp to the front free endpapers, but overall a superb copy.
