First edition, UK issue being one of 50 numbered copies signed by the author. Martin Secker bought 50 sets of sheets from the unsigned American edition, and bound them very much in the Secker style, though the publisher's name does not appear anywhere in the book. The regular trade edition did not appear in England for another two years.
Octavo. Original brown cloth, titles to spine gilt, top edge stained brown. Housed in a brown quarter morocco solander box made by The Chelsea Bindery. Endpapers a little browned, cloth lightly marked and with a trace of bubbling, snag to top of the spine but a very decent copy.
