A complete set of First Editions. Lang, poet, scholar and journalist, devoted most of his life to the compilation of traditional Fairy stories from around the world from both the ancient and modern world. With the publication of the Blue Fairy Book in 1889 he commenced his famous series. In his "supervision" Lang always made his stories gentle and appeasing, removing the cruelty and so rendering them more suited to his young audience.

12 volumes, octavo. Finely bound by The Chelsea Bindery in full green morocco, coloured label (each colour reflecting the respective titles), decoration spines gilt, raised bands, rule to boards gilt, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. With numerous illustrations by H. J. Ford, 6 latter volumes having additional colour plates. A fine set.
