First Edition, First Impression of this scarce title which collects speeches by the young Churchill during his Liberal phase. A truly rare book in dust jacket - indeed we know of no other example. The jacket is notable not merely by dint of its rarity but also in its use of the portrait of the author on its upper panel. More usually jackets of this era either print text relating to the book they cover and others by the same publisher or are blocked with the same tools used for the binding.
Octavo. Original red cloth, titles to spine gilt, author's signature in facsimile to upper board gilt. With the photographically illustrated dust jacket. Housed in a quarter crimson morocco solander box. Some minor spotting to fore edges, light, partial browning to the endpapers but a superb copy in the dust jacket with three or four negligible chips and a few short tears.
