First one-volume edition, this copy inscribed on the front free endpaper: "Inscribed by Winston S. Churchill Mount Royal car Calgary 26. Aug. 1929." At the time of the inscription Churchill was making his second visit to Canada, following the defeat of the Baldwin government. The Mount Royal car is the dining car on the Canadian Pacific railway.
Octavo. Original burgundy cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, top edge gilt with the other edges trimmed as issued. Protected with a quarter morocco solander box. Photographic frontispiece of Lord Randolph Churchill. A very good copy with only minor wear.
